Suikido Flow Arts

Welcome to this page about the diverse and multi-facetted movement practices of Suikido.

The original interdisciplinary movement practices of Suikido combines ancient wisdom from Martial and Yogic Arts, Tai Chi, and Dance with cutting-edge Physical Training and Movement Science. Suikido works with universal movement principles and qualities as they relate to Man-in-Motion.

There are essentially two distinct kinds of knowledge within Suikido Movement Arts; an outer physical-energetic form and an inner energetic-spiritual dimension. In practice nothing is separate, everything overlap and intertwine.

Lying, creeping, crawling, sitting, standing, moving, jumping, running, leaping, slow, rapid, explosive, flowing, hard, soft, infolding, unfolding, pulling, pushing, expansive, contractive, lengthening, centering, elongating, rolling, spiralling, rotating, wavy, pulsating, circular, intuitive, unpredictable movements are all essential components of Suikido.

There are two foundational movement disciplines in Suikido, a Yogic Practice–Suikido Yogic Flow Art, and a Martial Practice–Suikido Bujutsu.

Suikido Yogic Flow Art

Suikido Yogic Flow Art is an original dynamic yogic movement system that fuses the essence of martial art, yoga, tai chi, dance, and dynamic meditation.

Suikido has its basis in the development of movement fluidity, inter-connectivity, and whole-body coordination; movement enhancement and neuromuscular refinement; and in the progression of inner energy flow and freedom of motion.

The practice systematically advances through a variety of movement sequences that progressively unfolds in form, range, and complexity. Series are performed in a flow wherein one
movement naturally connects and leads to the next. We work versatile with lying, sitting, standing, and moving exercises.

The flow practice is universal, multifaceted and encompasses a multitude of movement qualities; martial, yogic, energetic, meditative, artistic, instinctual, organic, athletic, tissue
therapeutic, etc.

Suikido Yogic Flow Art can be used as a basis for all other forms of movement – running, ball games, strength training, gymnastics, dance, yoga, martial arts, etc.

Suikido Yogic Flow Art addresses all; from beginners to advanced, experts, and adepts; from health challenged individuals to vibrantly healthy; from sedentary office workers to professional athletes.

Suikido Bujutsu

energy-in-motion • fusion • skill based • fight technology • bujutsu spirit

Suikido Bujutsu is a fused, innovative, non-style specific, non-style limited martial Art. Bujutsu 武術 refers to Martial Arts for real life and battlefield situations, whereas Budo 武道 denotes a process of self-refinement and a spiritual approach to Martial Arts.

Suikido is both Bujutsu and Budo; hence Suikido Bujutsu is a pragmatic spiritual warrior art.

Suikido Bujutsu has its foundation in the development of whole-body coordination, synergy, and kinetic power; movement optimization and technical refinement; defensive and combative advancement; and in the progression of the straightforward, unpredictable, instinctual.

The practice progresses systematically through basic and technical exercises, forms, shadow boxing, heavy bag training, fight technique with focus mitts and kick pads, partner drills, structured sparring, free sparring.

Suikido includes punches, strikes, elbows, kicks, knees, blocks, evasions, sweeps, take-downs, throws, joint-locks, submissions.

The practice is neither a sports oriented competitive martial art nor a traditional style with uniform, degrees and belts. Suikido stands alone and represents an advanced, realistic, flow-based fight technology.

Suikido Bujutsu covers all levels; from beginners to advanced, blackbelts, professional martial athletes, and warrior monks.

Teaching is arranged on request and planned according to the specific inquiry.

How We Work

We teach the Movement Arts of Suikido during our four annual retreats; Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

The primary emphasis during the seasonal retreats is upon the restorative and rejuvenating Flow Arts of Suikido, and less upon Suikido Martial Arts.

Besides the seasonal retreats the main focus of our teaching is to work with individuals and private groups that purposefully seek out the in-depth movement practices and authentic knowledge of Suikido.

Thus, we primarily teach and communicate the Movement Arts of Suikido through individually tailored retreats and bespoke programs on request.

A movement centred bespoke program can target an extensive range of purposes from healing, rehabilitation, and vitalization to performance enhancement, athletic optimization, and movement mastery.

We work with athletes, martial artists, yogis, dancers, and movers at any level; from beginners, experienced, and advanced; to elite, professionals, and adepts.

Mentorship Training

We educate and train small-scale groups of selected apprentices in our Yogic Flow Art.

We accept 8-12 qualified candidates for a 12-month mentorship training program, where the movement science, teaching craft and essential knowledge is taught and passed on directly from teacher to student. Our next mentorship program is from August 2018 to July 2019.

Upon completion of this foundational course, successful candidates officially become certified Suikido Yogic Flow Art Teachers. Besides further obligatory training and supervision certified Suikido practitioners are re-examined once a year to ensure high standards, continuous advancement, and refinement of their movement craft.

Athletic Optimization

We work with athletes of any level who aim to refine and improve their level of athletic performance.

We take a multidisciplinary synergistic approach to the optimization and refinement of the athlete’s physical capacity, energy level, technical skills, and inner state.

We utilize an advanced combination of focused movement refinement, physical training, action meditation, and energy-in-motion practice together with dietary, herbal, and other complementary energy-building protocols.

Athletic optimization programs aim to optimize the strength and elasticity of muscles, tendons, and joints; refine the neuro-muscular network; perfect technical skills; improve restitution and energy level; deepen inner stability and mental capacity; and to assist the athlete in reaching the desired level of performance.

Content, length, scope, price, etc. are set individually.
