What is Food Energetics? How is Ying & Yang related to nutrition?

A short article on how we work with diet and nutrition at Suikido Natural Healing — The essence is nutrition in balance with the natural rhythms.

The modern lifestyle and a steadily increasing amount of non-food on the shelves has slowly but surely changed our lifestyles and pushed our diets further and further away from a balanced, nutritious and healthy foundation. This has created a need to focus on our eating habits and with this a large number of diet theories, models and systems have been developed. It can be a jungle to navigate this sea of proposals and possibilities. What works and what is sustainable in the long run?

Moved by this question, we have set out to thoroughly test a wide range of plant-based diet systems, such as; Live sprouted food, Raw Food, Fruitarianism (80-10-10), Juicing (Liquidarian), Low-Carb High-Fat, High-Carb Low-Fat, Macrobiotic, Ayurvedic, etc. — supplemented by testing a number of fasting regimes and detox principles.

Based upon the empirical results from +10 years of systematic and practical research in the plant-based kitchen; the Food Energetics and Yin Yang nutritional science have found their justification as the foundation of our dietary practice.

The science of energetic nutrition is based on the principle of Yin-Yang and the dynamic balance between these complementary energies. The foundation is the life force of the food, its impact on the organ systems and its energetic effect on our organism as a whole.

The Yin-Yang energetic properties of food are divided according to qualities, such as:

  • Cooling or warming

  • Dehydrating or expectorant

  • Contractive or expanding

  • Downward moving or upward moving

  • Inward motion or outward motion

  • Highly digestible or easily digestible

A Yin-Yang balanced diet aims to harmonize your nutrition with the natural rhythms and to strengthen, nourish and balance the body as a whole.

All foods, by virtue of their unique content of phytonutrients, have a relation with specific organs that they either support or strain. It is thus possible to combine a diet that addresses a specific organ, strengthens the organ relations in general and optimizes the balance in the vital internal life processes.

Food Energetics integrates and takes into account individual body constitution, individual yin-yang balance/imbalance, health challenges, lifestyle, local environment and society as well as the change of seasons, geographical location, sunlight, wind, temperature and humidity.

This form of dietary therapy is universal and can be tailored indefinitely. It is thus beneficial for every person, in every phase of life, for every kind of lifestyle and for every purpose.

In particular, it has proven relevant for demanding lifestyles, elite sports and as an important tool for prevention and improvement of health in general.
